Reiki for Nervous System Attunement.

I want to start this off by saying the most important thing I think there is to be said on the topic of Reiki and any energetic healing work- as a practitioner my role isn't to fix you because you are not broken! Most often what we need is to be held in the arms of safe people, not only physically held but mentally, emotionally, spiritually and energetically held. Reiki doesn't work on just one part of you but the whole of you!
Holding and Healing.
In our healing and self discovery journeys we can often find ourselves going round and round looking for what's wrong with us, searching for the peace that we think will come when we find what needs to be changed or what needs to be fixed. But what if you don't need fixing? What if all you need is simply a space to be held exactly as you are? Held in what you're feeling and experiencing. When you support the nervous system in this way, held in a safe environment, with a safe person, you are no longer shaming yourself. See for me, the biggest growth and expansion hasn't been that I never get triggered, activated or emotional anymore but it shows up in a way that I no longer shame myself for having these feelings or reactions. Healing isn't about achieving a perfect state of 'being healed' that I once thought it was, it has for me been about developing a deep relationship with all the parts of myself with a huge sense of love and compassion. And even if some days I fail to do that, guess what? I have compassion for that too. I never expect myself to get it perfect anymore. In fact, I am so aware of my own humanness that I can see this humanness in others too. I can see where they hurt, or hold pain or suppress or shame and I have the same love and compassion for their humanness as I do for mine.
In a Reiki session, healers don't ever heal you, they support the process in a way that guides you back to the remembrance of how to heal yourself. You've always possessed this ability, it just got covered over by layers of what someone else told you that you should or shouldn't be and most of healing is truly forgetting and shedding these conditioned beliefs that were never yours to begin with.
Reiki can open up this space for you to feel, be held, be witnessed and begin to shed some layers in a very safe, supportive space that works on the whole of your wellbeing.
Reiki and Stress.
Reiki supports the nervous system by promoting a shift from the sympathetic fight-or-flight, to the parasympathetic rest-and-digest state which can really help to reduce overall stress levels and decrease anxiety and physical tension. It really is a space which facilitates a deep relaxation that many of us don't make space for in our modern lives. Studies have shown that reiki can lead to significant reductions in heart rate, blood pressure, and improve sleep, aiding in nervous system recovery and is particularly beneficial for managing burnout, adrenal fatigue, and chronic stress. In trauma recovery, it can support by providing a safe space for the body to emotionally release what has been stored and has also been shown to reduce physical pain levels in many patients.
